If you ever wondered how a non-profit, charitable society like ours survives to bring two quality, large scale, theatrical performances to the stage year after year, here’s how. No, it’s not the panto fairy or even the fairy police. The greatest source of funding comes from government grants. A lot of time is spent by dedicated board members ensuring that i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed in order to successfully compete for limited grant money.

The next greatest source of funding is, of course, through ticket sales. Gone are the days however when ticket sales turned a profit significant enough to support the necessary budget for the following season. The essence of community theatre is truly a labour of love, otherwise FVGSS would have long gone the way of the dinosaurs, as would every other community theatre group out there. Those are our two largest sources of revenue.

The remaining sources of operating capital require a little more creativity and a lot more work despite bringing in much less revenue than the first two resources. The third way the society generates funds is, of course, fundraising. Despite the hard work that goes into it, fundraisers can be a heck of a lot of fun. So, if you have a great idea for a future fundraiser, let us know! Contact your nearest board member or contact us via our web form.
